6. What is the option "Run ReconServer at windows startup."

If you would like to run the key logger when you restart windows, click on this. Checking this will enable autorun at windows startup.

7. What is "Run ReconServer in invisible mode when started?"

When this option is chosen, anytime the program is started either when you start it or when Windows restarts, it will start in invisible mode. A check mark on this option will mean that this option is enabled.

8. What is "Play alarm sound when detonator word found?"

When this option is checked, the software will beep when a detonator word has been passed through the system. This option is probably best used when you are running the software yourself.

9. What is "View Local Surveillance Reports?"

The View Reports option will bring up a page in your web browser to view the reports that ReconServer Software has collected on the system under surveillance. These are the Visual Capture Reports and the Key Logger Reports.

10. What is "Clear/Delete Key Reports?"

Clicking on Clear/Delete Key Reports will clear out all the information ReconServer Software has collected of the keystrokes that have taken place on the computer you installed the program on. Make sure you use this carefully. You don't want to delete any information you would rather save.

11. What is "Clear/Delete Screen Capture Reports?"

Clicking on Clear/Delete Screen Capture Reports will clear out all the screen shots and internet packet reports ReconServer Software has collected on the computer you installed the program on. Again, make sure you use this carefully. You don't want to delete any information you would rather save.

12. What is the View Packets screen

The View Packets window allows you to see the raw packets being sent over your network. Packets are the network data chunks that reconserver checks for your pre-defined alarm words. Click this link for more information on packets.

13. What is "Hide Window?"

Clicking on "Hide Window" will put ReconServer Software in invisible mode. Please remember to bring ReconServer Software back from invisible mode, you will need to press Alt-Z five times. That means you have to hold down the Alt key and at the same time, press the Z button five times. The Alt key is the one beside the space bar. You will then be required to input the password you have chosen to use with ReconServer Software.

14. What is all that information that is running by in the main program window?

When ReconServer Software is initially started, the main window will be showing the number of packets scanned, the number of alarms set off, the last detonator word that was hit, your report server and a list of the keywords that have been chosen to track.

15. What are the button choices located at the right hand side of the program and what do each do?

i) Alarms

This is the same window that appears when you first start the program. The alarms are the list of words in your settings that trigger the program to take a screen shot. Initially there are words already set but you can delete and add words that you want to track by clicking on the Settings button which brings you to the web based control panel.

ii) Reports

The Reports button takes you to the key Visual Capture Reports and Key Logger reports when clicked. When the browser window opens, you can choose to look at the Visual Reports from the list or go into the Key Capture Reports.

Clicking on one of the Visual Capture Reports from the list will bring up a window with 4 screen shots 3 seconds apart that were triggered to be captured when a keyword passed through the system. Clicking each one will show you the screen shot in a larger view.

iii) Settings [Command Center]

The Settings [Command Center] opens up a browser window that connects to the program's server so you can do a number of things related to the program. These are seeing what email and computers are being watched, deleting and adding keywords to be tracked, cloaking the program by renaming the the exe file and enabling your SMTP settings so the program can email you the screen shots to your email address allowing you to see the captured screen reports remotely.

iv) View Packets

The View Packets button simply allows you to view the packets going through the program by showing them running in the main window of the program.

v) Run Control

This button simply pauses the program. It will not collect any information while it is paused. You click it once to show the Pause Scan[||] button which you click again to pause the program. You can then click Paused - Click To Resume Scan to resume the program scanning.
It may seem like a lot of work, but we made it "child proof" so people would not accidentally pause the scanner and wonder why it wasnt collecting reports. When the scanner is paused, it does not look for alarms in the network or update the program window.
vi) Hide

The "Hide" button will put the ReconServer Software in hidden mode. This means that the program will be hidden until you bring it back by pressing Alt-Z five times. You have to hold down the Alt key and at the same time, press the Z button five times. You will then be required to input the password you have chosen to use with ReconServer Software.

vii) Exit

The "Exit" button will simply shut down the program. It will not be working when this button is pressed. If you simply wish to hide the program, click the "Hide" button.

16. How do I change my program name in "Settings?"

17. How do I change my "Manage/Edit detonator word list?"

After you enter the "Settings" section of the web site, you will see the link "Add/Delete Alarm Detonators" under Custom Watch Words. To the right of that are the keywords that are being tracked by your program right now as shown above.

To manage your keywords, simply click on the link "Add/Delete Alarm Detonators."

This will bring up a new window where you can manage your keywords.

To have a new word entered for tracking, simply enter the word in the box beside "Enter your new word" and click the "Submit" button.

If you wish to stop using a keyword for tracking, click on the "Delete Words tab, highlight the word you wish to stop tracking, and click "Delete Now!"

If you wish to delete more than one word at a time, hold Ctrl and click as many words as you want to stop using, then click "Delete Now!"

After you are finished with this section, you can click on the "X" of the browser window to close it. You will still have the "Settings" section opened to use as you see fit.

18. How do I set up my SMTP server in "Settings?"

This section serves as a way to set up your SMTP settings. You can disable, enable it, input your server and login username and password. You do not need this put in to use ReconServer Software but it will allow you to email yourself the screen shots and key log to any email address you have access to so you can check the reports remotely.

19. What is "Cloak EXE name?"

This is the most advanced cloaking system on the market today. Essentially, whatever word you enter here (e.g. program.exe svchost.exe ms.exe etc. etc.) the software will cloak itself as this exe name. Without cloaking, the ReconServer runs as "reconserver.exe" when you give it a new name, the application will appear in the process list as your new cloak exe name! Combine cloaking with the option 'Run application in invisible mode when started' and this program is virtually undetectable.

Try it out for yourself in a Trial Download.

20. How do I uninstall the application?

The easiest way: use MS windows file finder to find the 'Uninstall reconserver' shortcut and double-click it to uninstall.
